Australia Post - Single Monitoring and Alarm Response Platform

SNP Security was appointed as the security provider for Australia Post for alarm monitoring and maintenance Australia wide, and alarm response for NSW, ACT, and QLD, commencing from the end of January 2008. Australia Post is committed to providing high-quality mail and parcel services to all Australians. Delivery of mail is a critical government service, and the Australia Post network includes 4,449 postal outlets and 857 corporate offices.

CHALLENGES
Australia Post faced many challenges, including:
  • Poor communications of Incidents
  • Slowness of information flow
  • No single point of contact
  • No single platform for alarm response and patrol information
SOLUTIONS
Through our understanding about critical infrastructure protection, SNP Security recognised the need for a professional and reliable security service to protect this vital national service. To ensure complete security, the threat to different areas was studied and the risk mitigation strategies were put in place.

Automated Response Tracking (ART)
SNP Security has developed a new software solution, Automated Response Tracking System (ARTS), which links the mobile patrol officers back to our Monitoring Centre. Patrol responses are tracked seamlessly within the monitoring centre, with regular checks until a report is provided. ART was developed by our in house IT team and is linked to out MAS monitoring software which allows a more complete picture of an alarm incident and patrol follow up. ART is also capable of being a stand-alone system for “response only clients” the benefit of this is we can provide a professional response service to business with their own monitoring software. This improves the safety of officers, as well as increases the reliability of service for Australia Post and other infrastructure client being protected by SNP. Each response is guaranteed to be completed, with no room for error.

National Response Centre
Managing the mobile patrol response to alarms for Australia Post is streamlined through our National Response Centre. This innovative solution supports Australia Post’s large geographical reach, with one single point of contact for national mobile patrol coordination. The National Response Centre is located within the confines of our Grade A1 monitoring centre in a designated area. Being part of the graded station offers greater security under the Standard and the guarantee of business continuity.Professional, friendly customer service officers are specifically trained in mobile patrol services, delivering speedier reporting and on-time feedback.

Mastermind (MAS) Monitoring System Reporting
In the past year, SNP Security completed the seamless integration of our new Mastermind (MAS) monitoring software, bringing true redundancy and business continuity to our Grade A1 Sydney and Newcastle monitoring centers.The system has improved customer-reporting capabilities including regular scheduled reporting in easy-to-read PDF format. As one of the Key functionalities of the MAS system, we are now able to provide Australia Post with absolute transparency of our operations via MASWEB. MASWEB provides Australia Post with direct access to all the movements for all the monitored Australia Post sites from their own offices, and will allow Australia Post to produce monitoring reports directly at any time. In addition, MASWEB provides the flexibility for Australia Post to update certain information itself as and when required.
