SNP celebrates 50 year milestone in Newcastle

31 October 2008

Australian company, SNP Security, is celebrating 50 years of operations in Newcastle this month.

SNP Security has grown the business into a $30million per annum operation, and is a major employer in the Hunter region employing a workforce of over 350. Their offices opened in October 1958.

With a long standing commitment to staff development and the local community area, SNP is an active member of the Newcastle community.
Over the years SNP Security has sponsored the Hunter Women’s and is the current competition sponsor of the Men’s Rugby and the Hunter Rugby representative team that won this years Waratah shield; local basketball and surf clubs, and sponsorship of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service for over 15 years.

SNP Security, Managing Director, Tom Roche, says SNP is proud of the strong connections they have with Newcastle and its people.

“Newcastle is an important part of our business. Not only have we been operating in the area now for 50 years, but we also built our very first monitoring centre here – the only centre graded to this level located in the region.

“We have been through a lot with the people of Newcastle. The stranding of the Sygna, 2007’s storms and flooding, and of course the devastating Earthquake of 1989 where SNP staff were mandated to help keep residents and businesses safe, and assist the local police and army where ever they could during a very stressful time.

“We have had the support of the ‘John’s Brothers’ for a television commercial which was certainly a highlight.”

“It is with pride and fondness that we celebrate 50 years in Newcastle,” says Roche. “SNP Security has grown into an Australian-wide company, and our heart still beats strongly in Newcastle.”
