Evolution and Change

For the expanding SNP, the 1980’s saw the rapid development and installation of access control technology. Building security managers were requiring new procedures to increase security within multi-tenanted buildings and the new access control systems provided unprecedented options and the ability to limit access and log entry and exit times. Small swipe cards could be issued to employees allowing access to certain floors in a building or to certain sections of a floor at restricted or unrestricted times seven days a week. All entries were recorded and this could be analysed in the event of unauthorised entry.

The fourth generation of the Roche boys joined the company. For Tom Roche, today the Managing Director of SNP, growing up with the family company had a profound effect on his life. The son of Kevin Roche, from an early age, Tom was working and learning the business.

This exposure to different roles in the company gave Tom Roche a deep understanding of the business and its clients and competitors, but with, most importantly, the traditions and values that the family company espoused.
