The War Years

Following the death of his father in 1940, Thomas Roche took over as Manager of the company.

Because of the Japanese threat of invasion, the company was awarded a government contract to supply guards to various government sites and defence depots. At this time, the company operated from offices in Macquarie Place and it was from here that SNP first introduced the 24 hour coverage for patrols and guards to ring in to Head Office throughout the night.

New directions and goals were set and a solid future for the company was charted. In December 1947 the trading profit was £899, and by 1950 had reached £2,668.

By the late 1940’s, Australia was getting back to normal, people were looking to a new future and businesses like SNP were gearing up for a new era of hope and prosperity.
