Marist College improves school safety
Scope of Work:
To supply and install a CCTV System on a tight budget. Cameras were required within the school grounds (internal and external) to aid in the prevention of vandalism and general bad behaviour. Marist College wanted the ability to view clear images of any such event within a minimum of 14 days of recording the event. The preference was for the latest technologies in order to future proof the system.
Solution:
The new CCTV system utilises Mobotix cameras which allow unlimited and real-time monitoring, without the need to change backup tapes or have multiple cameras installed in a single location, due to the wide angle three mega pixel peripheral 'vision' of each camera.
SNP General Manager of Electronics Systems, John Fleming, says the Mobotix camera has decreased the number of cameras required to cover a single area, making them a cost-effective choice.
What makes this technology ground-breaking is the way the image can be manipulated in real time or following capture. Zooming in and out, turning the view left or right - all within the image itself.
Decentralized intelligence, with the digital cameras retaining data within the individual unit, means data can be accessed via the school wireless network.
Outcomes: The time line of delivery was met and final imaging has been welcomed by the senior teaching staff, ICT staff and facility staff openly. The combination of SNP's security expertise and Mobotix' cutting-edge technology has provided a low cost, security solution to Marist College that will assist in their endeavours to improve school safety.
