Port Macquarie Airport

Port Macquarie Airport is owned, operated, managed and developed by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

The Airport currently receives daily flights from QantasLink, Virgin Blue and Brindabella Airlines. Port Macquarie Airport also supports a general aviation sector including charter, training and maintenance facilities. The airport is operational 24 hours a day and handles approximately 30,000 aircraft movements each year.

In line with new government regulations for aviation security, Port Macquarie Airport needed to upgrade security. Within a six week timeframe, SNP Security mobilised and established a new, fully compliant, security screening operation.

SNP Security manages a number of challenges within the site. Security Officers are required to work shifts that correspond with flight schedules, overcome using a short split-shift rostering approach. Maintaining appropriate qualified staffing levels in a Regional Centre was overcome by ensuring that a program of ongoing & consistent training/assessment is implemented, with the support of the Aviation Division.

"SNP Security has definitely delivered in terms of cost, time and quality - competitive rates, achievement of key project milestones, and a professional team focused on customer service' commented Ashley Grummitt, Business Manager Corporate Development, Port Macquarie Hastings.

SNP Security continues to build upon our experience at Sydney Airport and with major airlines, extending this throughout numerous regional airports in NSW including Albury and Newcastle Airports.
