State Rail engages SNP Security to supply a range of static guard, patrol and canine services in numerous stations and yards across the greater Sydney metropolitan rail network and regional locations – in excess of 90 sites. Working in partnership with Railcorp Transit Officers to improve station security, the guards’ roles are widely varied, from escorting undesirables off station platforms or alerting police to potential problems. The canine team working in SNP’s railway security squad is the biggest canine deployment for a single customer in Australia.

“SNP Security has proven to be highly effective in deterring trespassers and minimizing vandalism to Railcorp assets” said Helen Ye, Manager Contract Security for Railcorp.

During World Youth Day 2008, SNP had 510 trained and accredited Security officers available at every railway station throughout the city to support the 223,000 pilgrims who made use of public transport throughout the World Youth Day period. SNP officers committed in excess of 20,000 hours over the 9 day period. An event report was emailed to Railcorp twice daily, covering any activity from the previous 12 hours. This enabled identification of any issues, and immediate corrective action to be taken.
