Security Monitoring Securitel Replacement FAQ

Securitel FAQ

Securitel links your alarm system to a Monitoring Centre, via your analogue phone line, and will be discontinued from 31 December 2009 by Telstra. If your company currently uses Securitel, your alarm system must be quickly migrated to a new solution.

What options are available?
Many solutions are available including Ethernet (TCP / IP), GPRS, GSM and PSTN. Rather than focussing on a single transmission path, SNP Security recommends an IP-based monitoring solution. IP monitoring uses a combination of transmission paths, to ensure that an alarm system will remain functioning and report a genuine alarm event even if the original transmission path has failed. In other words -complete peace of mind.

How do I know what is best?
SNP Security has done the testing for you. After trialling numerous network solutions of alarm transmissions from the extensive range of products currently available, SNP Security have developed SNP ConnectPlus – a combination of the three top performing platforms.

A flexible solution, SNP ConnectPlus can be tailored to your company’s specific needs. Our security consultants will visit your premises and advise on the best option for your company, including any changes to the alarm system that will be required, then coordinate the transfer to our Grade A1 Monitoring Centre.

Is it going to cost me more?
SNP Connect Plus may actually save your company money. Significant cost savings can be made through eliminating the need for a telephone line. No call costs are incurred.

What is the Australian Standard?
The nature of your business and risk profile will indicate the correct standard of alarm transmission. The new Australian Standards indicate the quality of the transmission, such as the frequency of connection checks, regardless of technology. SNP Security offers a choice of Class 3, 4 or 5 solutions as a direct replacement for Securitel.
