SNP Security was announced the ‘Special Security Event’ winner at the 2012 Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence, held in Melbourne on Thursday night.
SNP Security was awarded the highly coveted accolade as a result of their efforts at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), held in Perth in October 2011. CHOGM is a biennial summit of the heads of government from all Commonwealth nations and was attended by Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth.
“We are delighted to be recognised for our achievements at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. We were approached by the Prime Minister’s Office to participate in discussions regarding the security for the event, which was attended by high profile delegates,” says Tom Roche, Managing Director at SNP Security.
“We managed the security of up to 10,000 public figures including ministers, delegates, foreign security officers, close personal protection and multiple law enforcement agencies. I am proud of the exemplary work performed by my staff. Witnessing the progression of this event from a series of meetings to the moment when Her Royal Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh walked into the venue, guarded by SNP Security, was a special moment in our company’s history.”
Organised by the Australian Security industry Association (ASIAL), the national awards are the country’s premier security awards program. Now in their 17th year, the awards recognise outstanding individuals and organisations within the security industry.
The ‘Special Security Event’ category was judged on the entrant’s ability to demonstrate excellence in the provision of security services to an event, or the completion of a project of significance with regard to its outcome, benefits, initiative, complexity or challenge. An independent panel chaired by an ASIAL representative judged each nomination based on the criteria set for each award category.
